Are you my Uncle?

Paul will be home in 9 more days!!!!! :)
While he was gone 3 kids were born. Erick, Audrey and Riley. I thought it would be a cute idea if they wore shirts that said "Are you my Uncle?" while Emjae would wear a shirt that says "Are you Uncle Trevor?" and Julie would wear a shirt that says "Are you Uncle Erik?" at the airport when we go to pick him up.
The reasoning behind this is the story "Are you my Mother?" It is a cute little child's book that starts off with a mother bird leaving the nest to find food for her baby bird before he hatches. While she is gone looking for food he does however hatch and the little bird then goes on the search for his mother. Everyone or everything that the bird meets he asks "Are you my mother?"
So if you don't get the gist behind the "Are you my Uncle?" shirts, you should now. And Emjae and Julie's are different because they both have met Paul at least once (Julie was born a week before he left). But the last time they saw their uncle Paul Emjae was 1 and Julie was just born so they defiantly do not remember him, but all my brothers look pretty close to the same so I thought it was cute :)
I am just so excited to do these shirts!! Kate has purchased the iron on paper that we can print off stuff from our computer on to and the shirts as well. We haven't put them together yet (fingers still crossed that it will work) but we will probably being doing it pretty soon.

Pioneer Day

The 24th of July is the day that the Mormon Pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. It is a day that is celebrated in our church as a day of celebration that the pioneers had reached a place where they could live free without persecution.
I remember as a young girl visiting Vegas in the summer from time to time and my Unlce's stake having a celebration. Last night my little family and I headed over to where the celebration was going on. It was so much bigger than what I remember. There were jumping things, food booths, games, and a stage for skits and singing and performing. I also didn't remember there ever being fireworks, but there were.
It was a nice evening with the girls and the firework show was awesome!!!!

Square Pants

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, who lives in a pinapple under the sea?
Sponge Bob
square pants
Yes, for those who were following my pictures on FB you would know that yesterday was Julie's birthday and that I was putting together a Sponge Bob cake for her. She calls him Square Pants though and leaves out the Sponge Bob :)
We are lucky enough to have great friends named Mihaere's!!!! They were out of town and headed back home the same day of the party, but they let us come over and use their pool, grill, kitchen and bathroom!!
Our new friends the Ririe's came with their family, Brooke Reber and her boys, Anthony (our adopted son I will blog about later), Gina and her clan Amelia and Addison, Kate, Trevor and the twins :) and then the Mihaere's came home and joined in on the fun!!
We swam and swam until our hearts were content,

cut a head with Emjae's tooth
ate some amazing grilled burgers and hot dogs, provided by my husband :)
jumped on the trampoline
had dancing provided by Amelia :)
opened gifts by the pool
and ate cake.
We truly had a fun time!! And I am so glad we did it on her actual birthday instead of the weekend. I can't stand going swimming all day and then coming home and being tired the next day and having the next day be a Sunday. I want to be refreshed and ready for Sunday, not exhausted and tired from a fun day at the pool.
Here are a few more shots from the party

And no I did not forget to put a picture up of the cake!! I just wanted to keep all you readers in anticipation mode :)

My Jewie!

2 years ago I was in heaven (thanks to an epidural) watching Fiddler on the Roof with James. He had never seen it, so we figured the labor room would be the best place to watch it since we knew we would be a while in there :)

My 8lb 13oz "chunks" was born and today she turns 2! Julie has Beiber Fever, loves to dance, loves cheese, loves singing in nursery, at home or in the car, and loves watching "Giga Mind" (Mega Mind), "Princess" (Tangled), "Zonk" (Mulan), "McQueen" (Cars) and Cinderella. One word to describe her is Firecracker. She is so full of life and excitement and wether it is crying or laughing she does it to her best and everyone around can enjoy the "show."
Mom, Dad, Emjae, Oma, Opa, Nanna, Grandpa, all your Aunties, Uncles and Cousins love you Julie!!!! Happy Birthday!!!

Modesty

Oh how times have changed!!!
1. You wouldn't catch me in a 2 piece swimming suit now!!!
2. You wouldn't catch me in a cute little mini skirt now!!!
3. You wouldn't catch me wearing something that I wouldn't wear in front of my mother!!!
4. You wouldn't catch me wearing a tank or rolling up my sleeves to play sports!!!

I did these things at one time or another. (And may I say that I looked damn good too!) I had a two piece swim suit my senior year but mostly I wore these things in college and even up until James and I were engaged, I actually still wore a two piece even after our wedding for a bit, but now know that I shouldn't have.
If I could go back and do it again I don't think I would wear the same things. I know how important it is to be modest and to not show my body off as a piece of meat in front of ravage wolves. It brought attention to me and the attention was from boys who wanted more than a friend.
I see pictures of young women that I know and am somewhat shocked by their choice of apparel. Even for the fact that they would dare wear that apparel in front of their church going parents. When I did it, you could bet that my parents were no where in site!!!
I feel as if I am judging these girls and parents, when I myself did those things and feel that I am wrong to do so, but at the same time don't know what I can do to help these young women see that they are only hurting themselves in the long run, and what I can do to correct the errors of my ways.
I am conflicted!
I don't want my girls wearing clothing that they couldn't wear with garments, and I don't want them to feel like they want to and that they can do it behind my back, like I did with my parents.
It just saddens me.

love/dislike relationship

So as most know I have a child named Julie. I love this child to death and I couldn't imagine my life without her. I could however imagine a life with less crying!
From the beginning she just loved crying. For the first 4 months or so of her life it seemed that was about all she did if she wasn't eating or sleeping. Needless to say it is hard to bond with a child that cry's after every time you feed her or even when you are holding her. Maybe it was the not breathing when she was first born part. She just is trying to make up for that lost 30 seconds or so. (personally I thought she made up for it after the first week)
It took me awhile but I have grown to love her more. I loved her because she was my child, but I love her now because she is Julie.
There are days like today were she could do no wrong to me (besides the occasional hitting of her sister and not wanting to share or not wanting to pee in the toilet). I get awoken to a road of blocks and more blocks in my bed. Julie just wanted to be close to me and play, even though I was still sleeping :)

And today would have continued to go great until she decided to wake up from a short but late nap and have a non stop crying fest for the last hour and a half. She doesn't want to eat, she doesn't want to drink, she doesn't want to watch a movie, she just doesn't want anything. It may be that she is cutting her last 2 year molar, but it may just be Julie being Julie, and there is no way to tell the difference. Where is the sand man?!?!?!
Please come and give a double dose to Julie!!! and if you have some leftover my bed is right next door :)

More Loving

Looking up at the stars, I know quite well
That earth will have an end and I must as well
But while I am here striving to survive
I must learn that there is more of me I must give from inside

What can I give that will please not only me
But something I should do unto the least of these
With love I share unto those I see
For I can't wait to be told you have done it unto Me

Looking up once again I not only see the stars,
But I see a friend that's close and never far
One who loved me and has given me light
Even in the dark as the stars stream through the night.

So as I continue from day to night
I shall learn to seek to love thee with all my might
For the greatest commandment was given to me
That I must love one another as though lovest me.

This is a poem that I wrote for Girls Camp. We were focusing that day on being more loving. I was in charge of giving the thought that goes along with the theme for the day and so I wrote this and shared it with the young women. Hope you enjoyed.

So Excited

I am so excited for our Young Womans Standards Night!!!! I can't put up what it is that we are doing because who knows if some of my young woman look at my blog. I can however put up a sneak peak :)

Now you will just have to wait until after August 10th to find out the rest.
